Blackle - Power Saving website of Google

Blackle is nothing but a black version of google J

"A few months ago, TreeHugger Mark Ontkush wrote a post on his blog EcoIron titled Black Google Would Save 750 Megawatt-hours a Year. The post lays out the following train of thought. "An all white web page uses about 74 watts to display, while an all black page uses only 59 watts." Google, which has a white background and gets about "200 million queries a day" could reduce global energy use by 750 Megawatt-hours a year by simply changing the color of its homepage to black.

In response to this post a black version of Google emerged called Blackle.com. According to Blackle's homepage at publication time, 4,408.917 Watt hours have been saved by. The site encourages users to "make a difference today [by] … Blackling "energy saving tips" or visit[ing] treehugger.com a great blog dedicated to environmental awareness." Nice ideas. But how does the search measure up? Very well indeed. Give it a whirl yourself and start saving energy one search at a time. :: Blackle.com

Credit Card Holders - Be Cautious of Surrounding Environment

Dear Friends,

Hope you can pay some attention and spend a few minute of yours for saving either yourself or your buddies. Please read it and share it with your friends as this incident says the possible scenarios which we tend to offer ourselves knowingly in our day-to-day life.

I am sure you would agree with me once you have read it completely.

SCENE 1.

This is a new one. People sure stay busy trying to cheat us, don't they?
A friend went to the local gym and placed his belongings in the locker.

After the workout and a shower, he came out, saw the locker open, and thought to himself,
"Funny, I thought I locked the locker. Hmmm." He dressed and just flipped the wallet to make sure all was in order.

Everything looked okay - all cards were in place.

A few weeks later his credit card bill came - a whooping bill of $14,000! He called the credit card company and started yelling at them, saying that he did not make the transactions.

Customer care personnel verified that there was no Mistake in the system and asked if his card had been stolen. "No," he said, but then took out his wallet, pulled out the credit card, and yep - you guessed it - a switch had been made. An expired similar credit card from the same bank was in the wallet.

The thief broke into his locker at the gym and switched cards.

Verdict:
The credit card issuer said since he did not report the card missing earlier, he would have to pay the amount owed to them.
How much did he have to pay for items he did not buy?

$9,000! Why were there no calls made to verify the amount swiped? Small amounts rarely trigger a "warning bell" with some credit card companies

It just so happens that all the small amounts added up to big one!

SCENE 2.

A man at a local restaurant paid for his meal with his credit card. The bill for the meal came, he signed it, and the waitress folded the receipt and passed the credit card along.

Usually, he would just take it and place it in his wallet or pocket.

Funny enough, though, he actually took a look at the card and, lo and behold, it was the expired card of another person.

He called the waitress and she looked perplexed.

She took it back, apologized, and hurried back to the counter under the watchful eye of the man.

All the waitress did while walking to the counter was wave the wrong expired card to the counter cashier, and the counter cashier immediately looked down and took out the real card.

No exchange of words --- nothing! She took it and came back to the man with an apology.

Verdict:

Make sure the credit cards in your wallet are yours. Check the name on the card every time you sign for something and/or the card is taken away for even a short period of time.

Many people just take back the credit card without even looking at it, "assuming" that it has to be theirs.

FOR YOUR OWN SAKE, DEVELOP THE HABIT OF CHECKING YOUR CREDIT CARD EACH TIME IT IS RETURNED TO YOU AFTER A TRANSACTION!

SCENE 3:

Yesterday I went into a pizza restaurant to pick up an order that I had called in.

I paid by using my Visa Check Card which, of course, is linked directly to my checking account.

The young man behind the counter took my card, swiped it, then laid it on the counter as he waited for the approval, which is pretty standard procedure. While he waited, he picked up his cell phone and started dialing.

I noticed the phone because it is the same model I have, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

Then I heard a click that sounded like my phone sounds when I take a picture..

He then gave me back my card but kept the phone in his hand as if he was still pressing buttons.

Meanwhile, I'm thinking: I wonder what he is taking a picture of, oblivious to what was really going on. It then dawned on me: the only thing there was my credit card, so now I'm paying close attention to what he is doing.

He set his phone on the counter, leaving it open.

About five seconds later, I heard the chime that tells you that the picture has been saved.

Now I'm standing there struggling with the fact that this boy just took a picture of my credit card.

Yes, he played it off well, because had we not had the same kind of phone, I probably would never have known what happened.

Needless to say, I immediately cancelled that card as I was walking out of the pizza parlor.

All I am saying is, be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Whenever you are using your credit cards, take caution and don't be careless. Notice who is standing near you and what they are doing when you use your card.

Be aware of phones because many have a camera phone these days.

When you are in a restaurant and the waiter/waitress brings your card and receipt for you to sign, make sure you scratch the number off.

Some restaurants are using only the last four digits, but a lot of them are still putting the whole thing on there.

I have already been a victim of credit card fraud and, believe me, it is not fun. The truth is that they can get you even when you are careful, but don't make it easy for them.

பொறுமைசாலிகள் அல்லது பொழுதுபோக்கிகள் மட்டும் உள்ளே நுழைக!

ஒரு தினுசாத் தான் இருக்கீங்க..

முதலில் நண்பர் நந்தாவுக்கு என் நன்றி. என்னையும் இந்த வியர்டு விளையாட்டில் இழுத்து விட்டதற்கு.

ரொம்பத் தாமதமா வீட்டுப்பாடத்தை முடிச்சதுக்கு மன்னிக்கவும் நந்தா.. ஏன்னா போன வாரம் தான் எனக்கு பிரசவம் முடிஞ்சது ;-) . (இங்க Production Release in office! ;-)). அதனால தான் உடனடியா எழுத முடியல..

சரி.. நந்தா என்னுடைய கவிதைகேளுங்கள் வலைத்தளத்துக்கு தான் அழைப்பு விடுத்திருந்தார்.. ஆனா நான் ஏற்கெனவே என்னுடைய எண்ணங்களுக்குத் தகுந்தமாதிரி வலைப்பூக்களை உருவாக்கியிருப்பதால், அந்த வலைப்பூவைக் கவிதைகளுக்கு மட்டுமாய் விட்டுவிட்டு, இந்த BlogsOfRaghs ல் பதிவு செய்கிறேன். அதுவும் முதல் தமிழ்ப்பதிவுங்கோ.. இனிமே இங்கயும் தமிழ்ல தொடரலாம்னு இருக்கேன்.

சரி... ரொம்ப சுயபுராணம் சொல்லி போரடிச்சுட்டேனா.. மேட்டருக்கு வர்றேன்...

வியர்டான அதாவது வித்தியாசமான, கிறுக்குத்தனமான, வினோதமான பழக்கங்கள் என்கிட்ட இருக்கறது ஒண்ணொண்ணா (முடிஞ்சவரை மனசுக்குத் தோணுனதை) பட்டியலிடுகிறேன்...

நந்தா நீங்க 5 சொன்னீங்க.. நான் என்னவோ ஏழில் முடிக்கப்போய் அது பத்தாகி விட்டது ;-). எதுக்கு வெட்டி, ஒட்டிட்டுன்னு அத அப்பிடியோ விட்டுட்டேன்..

(1) காலரைப் பிடிச்சுக்கிட்டே தூங்குறது

சின்ன வயசுலருந்து இப்ப வரைக்கும் இந்தப் பழக்கம் இருக்குங்க.. அதாவது சட்டைக் காலரைப் பிடிச்சு அதோட நுனியை நோண்டுறது.. என்னமோ அதுல ஒரு அலாதி சுகம்.. முந்தியெல்லாம் ரொம்பச் சின்னப் புள்ளையா இருந்தப்ப, சட்டைக் காலரைப் பிடிச்சுக்கிட்டுத் தான் தூங்குவேனாம்.. பெரும்பாலும் அப்பா சட்டைக்கே முதலிடம்...

(2) பாடிட்டே இருக்கிறது

இதுல என்னடா இருக்குன்னு நெனக்கிறீங்களா? அதாவதுங்க.. பாட்டுங்கறது நமக்கு ரொம்பப் புடிச்ச விஷயம்.. ஒண்ணு பாடணும் இல்லாட்டி பாட்டுக் கேக்கணும்... நமக்குக் குரல்வளம் (!!?) கொஞ்சம் ஓஹோன்னு இருக்கறதால இந்த மேடையில பாடுறது, பாட்டுப்போட்டியில கலந்துக்குறது - இதெல்லாத்தயும் மனசளவுல வச்சுக்கிட்டு, ஏதாவது பாட்டு டிவிலயோ, ரேடியோவிலயோ ஓடும்போது கூடச் சேந்து பாடுறதுங்க.. அப்படியே நம்ம ராகம்,தாளம், சுருதி,பல்லவி - எல்லாத்தையும் சரி பண்ணிக்கிறதுங்க இலவசமாவே.;-) ஆனா பாருங்க இதுல என்னன்னா.. பழைய பாடல் இல்லாம புதுப்பாடல்கள் பெரும்பாலும் நமக்கு மனப்பாடங்கறதால டிவில பாட்டு வரும்போது நானும் கூட சேர்ந்து பாட ஆரம்பிச்சுருவேங்க.. ரொம்ப சத்தம் போட்டு எல்லாம் இல்லங்க.. மெதுவாத்தான்...

ஆனாலும் யோசிச்சுப் பாத்ததேயில்ல கூட இருக்கவங்களப் பத்தி.. என்னோட அண்ணன் அடிக்கடி திட்டுவான்.. "எத்தன தடவ சொல்லியிருக்கேன் உனக்கு இப்படிக் கூடக்கூடப் பாடாதன்னு? ஏதோ ஒண்ணு ரெண்டு வரிங்களைப் பாடுனாக் கூட, சரி! புடிச்ச பாட்டு போல.. ஏதோ கூடச் சேந்து பாடுறான்னு விட்டுரலாம்...ஆனா இப்படி முழுப்பாட்டையும் பாடுனா கூட இருக்கவன் கதி என்னடா ஆகுறது?"ன்னு.. நானும் சரி சரின்னுட்டு அப்டியே லூசுல விட்டுட்டேன்.. இப்ப கொஞ்சம் வயசானதாலயோ என்னவோ அது என்னங்க மெச்சுரிட்டியா ஆங்.. அதனாலன்னு நெனக்கிறேன்.. அப்பப்ப என்னைய, என்னோட கலையார்வத்தை அடக்கிக்கிர்றேன்.. இருந்தாலும் அப்பப்ப அண்ணாத்தை எட்டிப்பார்த்துடுவாரு சில சமயங்கள்ல.. என்னங்க பண்றது.. அப்டியே போய்ட்டுருக்கு நம்ம வண்டி..

(3) ஒண்ணு ஒண்ணா மாத்தி மாத்தி

பாட்டுக் கேக்கறப்ப WinAmp , Windows Media Player இப்படி எந்த ஒரு ப்ளேயரில் பாட்டுப் போட்டாலும், பாட்டுக்களை ஒரு மாதிரி கலவையா அடுக்கி ஒண்ணு ஒண்ணா வைக்கிறது நமக்கு கைவந்த கலைங்க.. அதாவது ஒரே படத்துல வர்ற பாட்டு அடுத்தடுத்து வராமயும், சந்தோஷப் பாட்டு, சோகப் பாட்டு, குத்துப்பாட்டு எல்லாம் ஒண்ணு மாத்தி ஒண்ணா அடுக்கினா நல்ல கலவையா இருக்கும்ல... இல்லைன்னா ஒரே டிராக்கில் போற மாதிரி போரடிக்கும் கிற எண்ணத்தில தான் இப்படி .. ஹி ஹி ஹி..

(4) ராசி பாக்குறது

நண்பர் ஜி.ராகவன் சொன்னபடி நமக்கும் இந்த ராசி பாக்குறது உண்டுங்க.. ஒவ்வொருத்தருக்கும் ஒவ்வொண்ணு மேல ஒவ்வொரு விதமான நம்பிக்கை, அபிப்ராயம் உண்டுங்க.. அத நீங்க செண்டிமெண்டுன்னு சொன்னாலும் சரி, மூடநம்பிக்கை இல்ல ராசி ன்னு வெச்சுக்கிட்டாலும் சரி, அவங்கவங்க அவங்களுக்குப் பிடிச்ச சில விஷயத்தை செஞ்சுக்கிட்டு தான் இருப்பாங்க....சரியா? நானும் கல்லூரிப்பருவத்தில பெரும்பாலும் பரீட்சைக்கு சில ராசி சட்டை, பேண்ட் வச்சிருந்தேனுங்க.. எல்லாப் பரீட்டைக்கும் அத மட்டுமே (!!) போட்டுட்டுப் போறதுங்க..என்னமோ அதப் போட்டுட்டு போய் பரீட்சை எழுதுனா நல்ல மார்க் வாங்குவோம்ங்க நம்பிக்கைங்க.. நீங்க என்ன கேக்க வர்றீங்கன்னு தெரியுது. "ஆஹா.. அவந்தானா நீ.. அப்ப நீ இன்னும் அப்டியே தான் இருக்கியா.. திருந்தவேயில்லையா" ன்னு.. மேற்கூறிய அதே மெச்சுரிட்டினால, இப்பெல்லாம் அந்தளவுக்கு இல்லங்க..

(5) பந்தயம் வெச்சுக்கறது

எனக்குத் தெரிஞ்சு இது எத்தன பேருகிட்ட இருக்குன்னு தெரியாதுங்க.. சின்ன வயசுல நாலாப்பூவோ அஞ்சாப்பூவோ படிக்கயில ஆரம்பிச்சதுங்க.. ரோட்டுல போயிட்டு இருக்கும்போது கீழ கெடக்குற கல்லை எத்தி வெளையாடுற பழக்கமுங்க.. அப்ப திடீரூனு வேகமாப் போகணும்கறதுக்காக, மெதுவா எத்திக்கிட்டே வந்த கல்ல திடீரூன்னு வேகமா எத்தி, எதிர்த்தாப்புல வர்ற லாரியோ, காரோ, சைக்கிளோ அந்த வீட்டைத் தாண்டுறதுக்கு முன்னாடி நம்ம கல்லு அந்த வண்டியைத் தொட்டுப்புடணும்....அந்தத் தெருமுக்கைத் தொடறதுக்குள்ள நம்ம கல்லு இந்தத் தெருவைத் தாண்டிடணும்.. - அப்படி நெனச்சுக்கிட்டே கல்லை எத்திக்கிட்டு வர்றதுங்க.. சில சமயங்களில கொஞ்சம் ஓவராகி, இந்தக் கல்லு இப்ப தாண்டிருச்சுன்னா, நம்ம நெனச்சது நடக்கும்.. (இது எதுவேணா இருக்கலாங்க - நெனச்சது நடக்குறது).. ன்னு எல்லாம் கூட நெனச்சுக்கிறதுங்க.. இப்ப நெனச்சா சிரிப்பாத்தான் வருது ;-)

சில சமயங்களில் ரூபாக் காச (நாணயத்தை) சுண்டிப் போட்டு முடிவெடுப்போம்ல அது மாதிரி தான் இதுவும்..

(6) பொஸ்தகம் படிக்கறது

இது பொதுவா நெறயப் பேருகிட்ட இருக்கற பழக்கமுண்ணு நெனக்கிறேங்க.. அதாவது சாப்ட்டுகிட்டே படிக்கிறது.. தூங்கும் போது படிக்கறது.. பாத்ரூம் போகும் போது படிக்கிறது (அம்மா "டேய் சரஸ்வதியை ஏண்டா அங்க கொண்டு போற" ன்னு திட்டினாலும்).. சின்ன வயசுல ஒருநாள் ஒரு நாவல் படிச்சுட்டுருந்தேன்.. அப்ப திடீருன்னு அவசரமா வந்ததுனால, நாவலோட விறுவிறுப்பின் காரணமா, உள்ள கொண்டுபோய் படிச்சு முடிச்சுட்டுத்தான் வெளிய வந்தேன்.. (வந்து வீட்டில திட்டு வாங்கினது வேற விஷயம்.. தெரிஞ்ச விஷயம் தானே இதுல திட்டுறதுக்கு என்ன இருக்குன்னு கேக்குறீங்களா.. ரொம்ப நேரமா ஆளக்காணோமேன்னு தேட ஆரம்பிச்சுட்டாங்க...ஏன்னா நான் சொல்லாமக் கொள்ளாம தோட்டத்துல இருக்கற பாத்ரூமுக்கு போயிட்டதால). நமக்கு ஒரு நம்பிக்கை அல்லது எண்ணமுங்க.. அங்க இருக்கற நேரத்தை வீணாக்கக்கூடாதுன்னு.. எனக்குத் தெரிஞ்சு சில நண்பர்களோட ஒத்துப் போயிருக்குங்க..

இன்னொன்னு, நாவல் அல்லது கதைப் பொஸ்தகம் ஏதாவது படிச்சுக்கிட்டே தூங்கிட்டா, காலைல எழுந்திரிச்ச உடனே, மொத வேலையா அதப் படிச்சு முடிச்சுட்டுத்தான் வேற வேலையே பாக்குறது...ஆனா இது ஏனோ பாடப்புத்தகத்துல இருக்கறது இல்லங்க ;-)

(7) கண்ணு முழிக்கறது

நந்தா சொன்ன மாதிரி தான்.. பிரம்மச்சாரிகள் வாழ்க்கைக்கென்றே ஒதுக்கப்பட்ட எழுதப்படாத சாசனம்...திடீருன்னு ஒரு மூடு வந்துட்டா, ரொம்ப நேரம் டிவி பாக்குறது, இல்லாட்டி கணினியை நோண்டுறது.ன்னு அப்பிடியே ஒரு 3, 4 மணிவரை பொழுதப் போக்கிர்றது.. அப்புறம் காலைல லேட்டா எழுந்திருக்கிறது தான் வழக்கமாச்சே.. எழுந்திரிச்சு, "அடடா.. நேத்து ராத்திரி அப்படி ரொம்ப நேரம் முழிச்சிருக்கக் கூடாதோ.. அப்படி என்னடா தூக்கம் முழிக்க வேண்டியிருக்கு" ன்னு நம்மள நாமளே கேள்வி கேட்டுக்க வேண்டியது.. இதெல்லாம் அடுத்த தபா உக்கார்ற வரைக்கும் தாங்க.. மறுநாள் அலுவலகத்துக்கு போகணும்கறதுனால சிலசமயம் இதுங்கள்லாம் கொஞ்சம் அடங்கியிருக்குதுங்க்.. சனி, ஞாயிறு வந்துட்டா போதும்.. திருவிழாவைப் பாத்த சின்னப்புள்ள கணக்கா கெளம்பிருங்க இதுங்க பாட்டுக்கு… ம்ஹீம்.. கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமா முன்னேறிட்டு வர்றேங்க இப்பல்லாம்...

(8) நேரத்த மிச்சம் பண்றது

இன்னொன்னு, ஒரு வேலை செய்யும் போது அதே நேரத்தில வேற வேலை ஏதாவது செய்றதுங்க...(Parallel Processing)னு ஆங்கிலத்துல சொல்வாங்க.. உதாரணத்துக்கு சொல்லணுமின்னா, நாம தூங்கறப்ப துணிகளை ஊற வைப்போம்.. அப்பத்தான் தூங்க எழுந்திரிச்ச உடன, துணிங்க எல்லாம் நல்லா ஊறியிருக்கும்.. துவைக்க வசதியாவும் இருக்கும்.. நாம் தூங்கற நேரத்தை எப்படி துணி ஊற வைக்கப் பயன்படுத்துறோமோ அப்படித்தாங்க..

நமக்குத் துணிங்க இஸ்திரி போடற நேரத்துல பாட்டுக் கேக்கறது, அலுவலகத்துல காலைல வந்து கணினியை உயிர்ப்பிச்ச உடன, காபி குடிக்கப் போறதுக்கு முன்னாடி Login பண்றது ஏன்னா அது கொஞ்சம் நேரம் எடுக்கும்.. காபி குடிச்சுட்டு வர்ற நேரத்துக்குள்ள இந்த வேலை முடிஞ்சிடும்..இல்லைன்னா அதுக்குன்னு ஆகற நேரத்தைத் தனியா, தண்டமாக் கழிக்கணுமேங்கற கவலை.. டீ குடிக்கறப்ப, டீ பேக்கை சுடுதண்ணியில ஊறவைச்சுட்டு, வாட்டர் கேன்ல தண்ணி ரொப்பறதுங்க.. ஏன்னா தண்ணி ரொம்பற நேரத்துக்கு டீ நல்லா சாறு இறங்கிடும்ல.. இல்லைன்னா அந்த நேரத்தைத் தனியா அதுக்குன்னு செலவழிக்கணும்ல.. நாமல்லாம் அப்பப்ப ப.சிதம்பரம் ரேஞ்சுக்கு ஒக்காந்து யோசிப்போம்ல... இந்த நேரத்துக்கு அதப் பண்ணிரலாம்.. அந்த நேரத்துக்கு இதப் பண்ணிரலாம்னு பட்டையக் கெளப்புறது போங்க...

நம்ம நண்பர்களை எப்ப முதல் முதல்ல பாத்தேன், அப்ப அவன் என்ன கலர் சட்டை போட்டிருந்தான், என்ன பேசினான். இப்படிப்பட்ட தகவல்களும் அடங்கும்.. நம்ம தொழில் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட விஷயங்களும் உண்டுங்க (Technical aspects). ஆனால் எல்லாத்துலயும் ,எல்லாரப் பத்தியும் இல்லங்க.. முந்தி இதோட அளவு/விகிதம் ரொம்ப இருந்துச்சு.. இப்பல்லாம் புதுசா ரொம்ப கவனம் எடுத்து பதிவு செஞ்சுக்கிறது அவ்வளவா இல்லங்க.. அதுவா அமைஞ்சா உண்டு. என்னா நம்ம கொஞ்சம் அப்பப்ப பிசி ஆகிடுறோம்ல..

Got a call from my Sister (Karpagam) who is studying in IIT, Chennai regarding the same poetry Contest and she told either by hard copy or by soft copy the entries can be sent. She told that she would get the mail id later as she dint remember by then.

As my brother had got married by 8th of Feb 2007, we (me,dad,mom,brother,sister-in-law) went to the temples nearby. Though had been thinking to pen down, could not do it bcos of the time and environment was not favourable.

Got to know that the traffic in bangalore was under control and the buses are allowed to get in and come out of the city. As usual, last minute rush to book a ticket and had to pack up things.

Then thought of penning down the thoughts whatever i had in my mind in the morning. Started writing a poem and in the middle my sister-in-law came and saw it. She told that it was nice and aksed me to show the poem once its completed. The same as with my brother too.

Completed the poem and took a fair draft as there were some adjustments here and there while penning down initially. Then had dinner in my aunt's house where my brother and sister-in-law were invited after their marriage.

Before getting the boarding pass in the KPN Office, asked my brother to stop nearby the browsing centre and stepped in. Scanned the poem as i dint have the tamil fonts in my brother's laptop then. Sent the scanned poem to the id what my sister gave. My Sister told it was suryanpro at sunnetwork dot com. As i thought there might be some mistakes, i had included with different possibilites as suryanpro at sunnetwork dot com, dot co dot in, and sooriyanpro at sunnetwork dot com, dot co dot in. Thought i had sent, thought the id might have some errors. Just checked in for the website sunnetwork dot com and dot co dot in. But both of them were not working.

Informed my friend Santa and my sister about the same and asked them to enquire their friends in Chennai who might be aware of the correct email id and asked them to just forward it to the right id.

Then got into the bus and was on the way to bangalore..

I was in my hometown Karaikudi, was taking rest after having injection and tablets because of much work done for my brother's marriage. I was supposed to be back to Bangalore after the vacation but happened to extend the leave because of illness as well the inability to travel to bangalore bcos of the Cauvery Issue.

Got a call from my friend Santa(SanthanaGopalan K) saying that he got a mail from Viji regarding the Poem Contest in Suryan FM for the Valentines Day. The Winner will have a Coffee With Sneha. He told that within 2 days (b4 14th Feb 2007) the entries should reach. But viji was not mentioning about the contact details to send the poem it seems.

As I was not feeling well told him that i would try to write a poem.

This is a true story of a young college girl who passed away last month. Her name was Priya. She was hit by a lorry. She has a boy friend named Shankar. Both of them are true lovers. They always hang on the phone. You can never see her without her handphone. In fact she also changed her phone from Airtel to Hutch, so both of them can be on the same network, and save on the cost.

She spends half of the day talking with shankar. Priya's family knows about their relationship. Shankar is very close with Priya's family. (just imagine their love) . Before she passed away she always told her friends "If I pass away please burn me with my handphone" she also said the same thing to her parents.

After her death, people cant carry her coffin, I was there. A lot of them tried to do so but still cant , everybody including me, had tried to carry the coffin, the result is still the same. Eventually, they called their neighbour, a "bomoh" from Thailand (pak Darin), who is a friend of her father. He took a stick and started speaking to himself slowly. After a few minutes, he said "this girl misses something here". then her friends told Darin about her intentions to burn her with her phone. He then opened the coffin and place her phone and SIM card inside the casket. after that they tried to carry the coffin. It could be moved and they carried it into the van easily. All of us were shocked. (can u feel the fear. I'm shaking at this moment)

Priya's parents did not inform Shankar that Priya had passed away. After 2 weeks Shankar called Priya's mom. Shankar :...."Atte, I'm coming home today. Cook something nice for me. Dont tell Priya that I'm coming home today, i wanna surprise her." Her mother replied....."You come home first, i wanna tell you something very important." after he came, they told him the truth about Priya.

Shankar thinks that they were playing a fool. He was laughing and said "dont try to fool me - tell Priya to come out, i have a gift for her Please stop this nonsense". then they show him the original death certificate to him. They gave him proof to make him believe. (Shankar started to sweat) ..

He said... "Its not true. we spoke yesterday. She still calls me. Shankar was shaking. Suddenly, Shankar's phone rang. "see this is from Priya, see this..." he showed the phone to priya's family. all of them told him to answer.he talked using the loudspeaker mode. all of them heard his conversation.

Loud and clear, no cross lines, no humming. It is the actual voice of Priya & there is no way others could use her SIM card since it is nailed inside the coffin they were so shocked and asked for pak Darin's help again. pak Darin brought his master (tok Chen) to solve this matter. He & Darin worked for 5 hours. Then they discovered one thing...

Amrita Alumni Meet - 2007

As usual, Alumni Meet @ Amrita (Amrita Institute of Technology & Science earlier, now its Amrita School of Engineering after being the Deemed University- which is in Ettimadai, Coimbatore) happens on 25th & 26th Febraury 2007 (3rd week of Feb).

Here is where i had graduated my Bachelor of Engg in IT dept in the year 2003. We were the first batch of IT dept. After my graduation i was working as a Lecturer in the Same Department (IT) in my college for about 5 months (July 4,2003 Friday - November 29, 2003 Saturday).

I could not attend any of the alumni meetings till now. Twice it happened and i had to miss those because

During the Year 2004, i was in the corporate training and the Project Presentation was on the same week. Being a TL (!!?), happened to stay back!!

During the Year 2005, i was having my Mid Semester exams of myI Semester MS in BITS, Pilani. [Feb 19th and 20th 2005].

This time should defintely make it.. Let me C.. I will be back from my vacation after my brother's marriage which is on Feb 8th 2007.

Of course its a great chance given to all of us to refresh our memories and excellent moments what each person would have experienced. Though we might be doing so many work-arounds to get the leave, make ourselves available for the Alumni Meet despite of the fact that its our duty to be a part of it, i m sure the efforts gonna be worthwhile...

We will feel the farewell-Part II in every subsequent alumni meetings right.. we may not even have a liking to get back to our own present nests.. thats the fun, miracle of any college has in store for the x-students!!

Purchasing a PC? Some tips for you!

Purchasing a personal computer today is both easy and complex. You can walk into any big store and pick a computer off-the-shelf - the way you buy any gadget.

You even have it delivered to your home without much ado - warranties, guarantees intact. Second, you have finance schemes, which will help you pay for the PC with a down payment and equated monthly installments (EMIs).

The complexity starts with PC configurations. Should you buy an Intel or AMD PC; a Celeron, Pentium 4, Athlon, a dual core or Core 2 Duo; how much Random Access Memory (RAM), and the like?

For users, who simply want to surf the Net, use Word (to type and print documents) and access email, an Intel Celeron D (2.8 Ghz) or Pentium 4 processor (2.66 Ghz) should suffice.

There's hardly any configuration worth mentioning that's lower than this. The price of such a PC (including a mouse, onboard integrated graphics, combo CD-DVD drive) would range anywhere between Rs 18,000-25,000 (varies with every brand).

Mid-level users may do with the same configuration but will need additional RAM (typically DDR2 - around 512 MB). More RAM helps software applications to load faster on the machine and comes in very handy if you want to play games or use image-editing software like PhotoShop or vector-drawing packages like CorelDraw. It also pays to have a good hard-drive.

A 60-80 GB SATA drive with 7,200 RPM (loads data faster than a 5,200 RPM hard-drive) should do the trick. A decent branded machine with these specifications would cost around Rs 23,000-30,000.

Advanced users are hardcore gamers (they prefer seeing crisp and shrap images), developers or users of 3D software (rendering of images can take an awful lot of time on slower machines).

The RAM would be always 1 GB and above, the hard-disk capacity around 80-160 GB to store more multimedia files, a CD-DVD combo writer, a 17- or 19-inch TFT (flat screens for a better experience), 3-4 USB slots, a premium cabinet with extra fans to cool the advanced processors than can generate a lot of heat.

These processors comprise the Dual Core, Core 2 Duo (both from Intel) or the Athlon 64 X2 (from arch-rival AMD). Of course, hardcore games will need proper gaming cards - either from Nvidia or ATI. The high-end gaming cards themselves could cost anywhere from Rs 15,000-40,000 taking the cost of such computers to Rs 75,000 -100,000.

In sum, any PC with a Dual Core or an Athlon XP 3600+ is powerful enough for most users. Add around 512 GB of memory and your machine will rock for most tasks. But if Vista (Microsoft's latest operating system - OS) is on your mind - how many of you are still using Windows 98 anyway - you will require at least 512 MB RAM (we would recommend 1GB) and surely a Duo Core (at least) processor.

The Athlon 64 X2 3000+ would be a good buy since the Core 2 Duo (the architecture is called Core, processor family is Core 2, and the product names are Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme - they are said to be up to 40 per cent faster and over 40 per cent more energy-efficient) may not be full value for money till the prices drop over the coming months.

Do remember these are broad guidelines. PC buying is simple when it comes to low-end machines but as your needs increase, you may be tempted to buy higher-end ones.

Before flushing money down the drain, ensure that you read good online computer hardware sites like Tom's Hardware and Anand Tech and I can assure you that the journey will be as exciting as we find it. Wish you the best.

A man came out of his home to admire his new truck. To his puzzlement, his three-year-old son was happily hammering dents into the shiny paint.

The man ran to his son, knocked him away, hammered the little boy's hands into a pulp as punishment. When the father calmed down, he rushed his son to the hospital.

Although the doctor tried desperately to save the crushed bones, he finally had to amputate the fingers from both the boy's hands. When the boy woke up from the surgery & saw his bandaged stubs, he innocently said, "Daddy, I'm sorry about your truck." Then he asked, "but when are my fingers going to grow back?"

The father went home and committed suicide.

Think about the story the next time you see someone spill milk at a dinner table or hear a baby crying. Think first before you lose your patience with someone u love. Trucks can be repaired. Broken bones & hurt feelings often can't. Too often we fail to recognize the difference between the person and the performance. People make mistakes. We are allowed to make mistakes. But the actions we take while in a rage will haunt us forever.

Pause and ponder. Think before you act. Be patient. Understand and love.

Love deeply and passionately.You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely....

Venkatesh Balasubramaniam (who works for IIT) describes how his gesture of booking an air ticket for his father, his maiden flight, brought forth a rush of emotions and made him (Venkatesh) realize that how much we all take for granted when it comes to our parents.*

*My parents left for our native place on Thursday and we went to the airport to see them off. In fact, my father had never traveled by air before, so I just took this opportunity to make him experience the same. In spite of being asked to book tickets by train, I got them tickets on Jet Airways. The moment I handed over the tickets to him, he was surprised to see that I had booked them by air. The excitement was very apparent on his face, waiting for the time of travel. Just like a school boy, he was preparing himself on that day and we all went to the airport, right from using the trolley for his luggage, the baggage check-in and asking for a window seat and waiting restlessly for the security check-in to happen. He was thoroughly enjoying himself and I, too, was overcome with joy watching him experience all these things.*

What is MICR?

Yesterday one of my friends named Padmini asked about the MICR code of my account for the online money transfer!

I had already asked my friend Prabhu regarding the same when being asked from one of my juniors. But dint remember the full context this time except that it belongs to a part of the Cheque. I told her what i remembered and said i would probably check and get back.

Then just googled and gathered some information on the same.

To be precise,

(a) MICR stands Magnetic Ink Character Recognition, a 9 digit number printed/present in the bottom middle portion of any financial documents (for ex, cheque).

This picture might help you to understand better. [courtesy: Standard Chartered Bank FAQ site, which you can find in the bottom where the links are provided].

(b) The main purpose of MICR is to uniquely identify the {BankName,BankLocation,Customer Account Number} with the single number.

Since 1956 its in progress for effectively processing the documents for electronic capturing due to its reliability, durability and cost effectiveness.

The Printers having the capability to print the MICR code (with Magnetic Ink or Toner) would have the label 'MICR Enabled'.

A delightful story is told about a young man who applied for a job as a telegraph operator. He answered an ad in the newspaper and went to the telegraph office to await an interview. Though he knew Morse Code and was qualified in every other way, seven other applicants were also waiting in the large, noisy office.

He saw customers coming and going and heard a telegraph clacking away in the background. He also noticed a sign on the receptionist's counter instructing applicants to fill out a form and wait to besummoned to an inner office for an interview. He filled out the form and sat down to wait.

After a few minutes, the young man stood up, crossed the room to the door of the inner office, and walked right in. Naturally the other applicants perked up, wondering why he had been so bold. They talked among themselves and finally determined that, since nobody had been summoned to interview yet, the man would likely be reprimanded for not following instructions and possibly disqualified for the job.

Within a few minutes, however, the young man emerged from the inner office escorted by the interviewer, who announced to the other applicants, "Thank you all very much for coming, but the job has just been filled."

They were all confused and one man spoke up: "Wait a minute -- I don't understand. We've been waiting longer than he and we never even got a chance to be interviewed."The employer responded, "All the time you've been sitting here, the telegraph has been ticking out the following message: 'If you understand this, then come right in. The job is yours.'"

This man knew a valuable life-lesson that most people miss: Wherever You Are, Be There. If you're there physically, also be there emotionally. Be there mentally. Be there attentively. Be there asfully as you can.

It's about being present and fully alive in the moment. Wherever you are, be there. Give your full attention to others (is there really a better gift?). Give yourself fully to the task at hand or to the present moment. When you're completely present, you'll make the most of every minute. And minutes lived fully add up to a life lived magnificently.

Tips to manage Madras eye effectively What is red eye?

Some dos and don'ts on how to prevent it Redness and swelling of the eyelids and the eye surface generally occurs dueto an infection called conjunctivitis. It is common and occursintermittently as an epidemic due to rapid spread from person to person. Thepatients have a discharge from the eye and itching.

Most of the cases are caused by viruses or bacteria. Prevention is of prime importance. Anepidemic of Madras eye is very infectious and severe and lasts for two-three weeks. Here are some tips that will help you fight conjunctivitis.

Dos: A person with infectious red eye should not attend school or go to work tillhe is better. The patient should meet an eye doctor as soon as possible.Home treatment for red eye includes keeping the eye free of discharge andusing warm compresses. A different clean compress should be used for eacheye. After wiping the eye clean, the wipes should be disposed of properlyand immediately. The hands should be washed with soap and water aftertouching the eyes or face and after applying medications to prevent theinfection from spreading.

Don'ts: Poor hand-washing is the major culprit as also sharing objects, such astowels with a person who has red eye. All medications prescribed by thedoctor should be used as directed and should not be shared by differentpatients. A person using contact lenses should immediately stop wearing themtill the red eye has gone completely and even then, after seeing a doctor. Red eye may be more serious if there is any condition that decrease thebody's ability to fight infection or in a person wearing contact lenses. One should immediately return to the doctor in case of decreased, double, orblurred vision that does not clear with blinking.

Discover the 90/10 Principle - Its worth reading it atleast 1s..(though it seems to be lengthy)

It will change your life (at least the way you react to situations).

What is this principle? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react.

What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us.
We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane will be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic.

We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%.

How? ..........By your reaction.

You cannot control a red light. but you can control your reaction. Don't let people fool you;

YOU can control how you react.

Let's use an example.

You are eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no control over what just happened.

What happens next will be determined by how you react.

You curse.

You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt. Back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus.

Your spouse must leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed limit.

After a 15-minute delay and throwing $60 traffic fine away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye. After arriving at the office 20 minutes late, you find you forgot your briefcase. Your day has started terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You look forward to coming home.

When you arrive home, you find small wedge in your relationship with your spouse and daughter.

Why? .... Because of how you reacted in the morning.

Why did you have a bad day?

A) Did the coffee cause it?
B) Did your daughter cause it?
C) Did the policeman cause it?
D) Did you cause it?

The answer is "D".

You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day.

Here is what could have and should have happened.

Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry. You gently say, "Its ok honey, you just need to be more careful next time". Grabbing a towel you rush upstairs. After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time to look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good the day you are having.

Notice the difference?

Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different.

Why?

Because of how you REACTED.

You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% was determined by your reaction.

Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 principle. If someone says something negative about you, don't be a sponge. Let the attack roll off like water on glass. You don't have to let the negative comment affect you!

React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out etc.

How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you lose your temper? Pound on the steering wheel? A friend of mine had the steering wheel fall off) Do you curse? Does your blood pressure skyrocket? Do you try and bump them?

WHO CARES if you arrive ten seconds later at work? Why let the cars ruin your drive?

Remember the 90/10 principle, and do not worry about it.

You are told you lost your job.

Why lose sleep and get irritated? It will work out. Use your worrying energy and time into finding another job.

The plane is late; it is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why take outpour frustration on the flight attendant? She has no control over what is going on.

Use your time to study, get to know the other passenger. Why get stressed out? It will just make things worse.

Now you know the 90-10 principle. Apply it and you will be amazed at the results. You will lose nothing if you try it. The 90-10 principle is incredible. Very few know and apply this principle.

The result?

Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress, trials, problems and heartache. We all must understand and apply the 90/10 principle.

It CAN change your life!!!

Coffee and the Cup A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university Professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the Prof went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups: porcelain, plastic, glass, some plain-looking and some expensive and exquisite, telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the lecturer said ?If you noticed, all the nice-looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the better cups and are eyeing each others cups.

Now, if Life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn?t change. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it.

So friend, don't let the cups drive you. enjoy the coffee instead.

Procedure to recover shift deleted [permanently deleted] mails from Microsoft Outlook.

1) First go to Run and type regedit

2) Go to:\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\EXCHANGE\CLIENT\OPTIONS registry key.

3) Right click options and add new DWORD VALUE (data type is REG_DWORD) and then right click and rename to DumpsterAlwaysOn. It is case sensitive.

4) Then right click and modify and make the value 1 to turn the Recover Deleted Items menu choice on for all folders or enter 0 to turn it off.

5) Then go to Outlook , choose "Recover deleted items" option from the Tools Menu to get back your "permanently deleted" mails!

Note : This procedure can recover mails which were deleted by pressing shift+del in the past 30 days. I Tried and its working....

Language - its the medium with which we can communicate with anyone else rite? of course to the self, we dont need any such medium except silence! wasssay?

well, this is based on the incident happened in office today though had met similar incidents several times.. when i was talking to my colleague in hindi, one of the persons sitting nearby was seeing as if i m an alien... soon after realising that got to ask him what was the reason made him wonder!? for which i got a reply, "how come you are speaking in hindi?".. i told, " i had hindi as a subject in my schoolings (till 5th) and then studied privately for the exams conducted by Dakshin Bharath Hindi Prachar Sabha in tamilnadu.. there after was taking some hindi classes too ..", he continued staring at me with surprise....again he said, "but then ppl from tamilnadu dont speak hindi rite?.."

got to say him," no boss.. you are not exactly rite.. of course, i do agree most of our gusy dont know.. but to certain extent ppl have a good knowledge in hindi.."

by the moment, was very sad about the great leader Aringar Anna! as he was leading the protest against Hindi in those days.. they would have foreseen this effects.. merely this is gonna give a -ve aspect to our ppl rite... neways its our NATIONAL LANGUAGE with which we can definitely survive in any part of India.. [i understand not all parts of southern india is eligible for my words here..except some major cities and capitals of states]....

i strongly felt that irrespective of the situations, ppl should understand the present trend and scenarios thereby its every1s duty to learn the language rather than i was not permitted/given a chance to learn the language.. and i do suffer..!! aint i?

you may ask me a question, being in bangalore do you know kannada well? Nope.. i am in a very very initial stage.. in such case, i w(sh)ould have definitely learnt Malayalam during my bachelors (Amrita Institute Of Technology and Science, Ettimadai, Coimbatore - which resides more or less close to kerala and in the TN-Kerala border)... though i should not appreciate or relax myself for not having learnt those languages, i would try to say that the losses are comparatively less than that of not learning our national language...

neways, felt great about my dad who did insist all of us (me and my siblings) to learn hindi and appear for all the exams.. as well supported for taking hindi classes tooo.... thank you dad...

the inspiration made me blog this today is the reply when i posted to one of the blogs regdg the same issue.. a guy from TN is struggling in North India to manage in Hindi.. Of course i do have one of my good friends named Hemananthan D who has a good experience in Delhi.

one more reply from my side is, i do see the same thing happenening to friends of TN only as other friends from kerala , Karnataka and AP are fairly good in Hindi proficiency!!!.

Courtesy: An electronic mail forward from my friends Archana Muralidharan & Aysha Banu. (infact i m in the mailing list of both ;-))

This is yet another best email forward. Feel so happy while reading and wish all of us should try implementing these in our lives atleast to certain extent. The life is not only for us but also to the people around us.. wassay?

Just to quote, i lend the dialogues of Manirathnam (the great film director of Tamilnadu, India) in his movie Naayagan (casting kamalhaasan), "naalu pearukku nalladhu nadakkumna ethuvumea thappilla" [Translation: If your deeds yield some good things for others, nothing is wrong and you dont need to bother about anything else]

A wonderful story comes from 19th Century England. According to the account, Queen Victoria was once at a diplomatic reception in London.

The guest of honor was an African chieftain. All went well during the meal until, at the end, finger bowls were served. The guest of honor had never seen a British finger bowl, and no one had thought to brief him beforehand about its purpose. So he took the bowl in his two hands, lifted it to his mouth, and drank its contents down!

For an instant there was breathless silence among the British privileged guests, and then they began to whisper to one another. All that stopped,however, when Queen Victoria silently took her finger bowl in her two hands, lifted it, and drank its contents! A moment later, 500 surprised Britishladies and gentlemen simultaneously drank the contents of their own finger bowls. It was the queen's uncommon courtesy that guarded her guestfrom certain embarrassment.

Father Value - Be Proud of Parents!

Hey Dudes,

This is one of the excellent emails i have ever received. Thanks to my dear friend Prabhu S for sharing this. Believe & Bet you also would love reading this.

Though most of us would have the same thinking but not sure of its level of implemetation. It would be great, if we try to implement it in our day-to-day life!

Actual mail content goes here. Its entitled "Father & Son ~ Son & Father"

An 80 year old man was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his 45year's old highly educated son. Suddenly a crow perched on their window.

The Father asked his Son, "What is this?".
The Son replied "It is a crow".

After a few minutes, the Father asked his Son the 2nd time, "What is this?"
The Son said "Father, I have just now told you "It's a crow".

After a little while, the old Father again asked his Son the 3rd time, whatis this?"
At this time some ex-pression of irritation was felt in the Son's tone whenhe said to his Father with a rebuff. "It's a crow, a crow".

A little after, the Father again asked his Son the 4th time, "What isthis?"
This time the Son shouted at his Father, "Why do you keep asking me thesame question again and again, although I have told you so many times 'ITIS A CROW'. Are you not able to understand this?"

A little later the Father went to his room and came back with an oldtattered diary, which he had maintained since his Son was born. On openinga page, he asked his Son to read that page. When the son read it, the following words were written in the diary:-

"Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the sofa, when acrow was sitting on the window. My Son asked me 23 times what it was, and I replied to him all 23 times that it was a Crow. I hugged him lovingly eachtime he asked me the same question again and again for 23 times. I did not at all feel irritated I rather felt affection for my innocent child".

While the little child asked him 23 times "What is this", the Father hadfelt no irritation in replying to the same question all 23 times and when today the Father asked his Son the same question just 4 times, the Son feltirritated and annoyed.

So...

If your parents attain old age, do not repulse them or look at them as a burden, but speak to them a gracious word, be cool, obedient, humble and Kind to them. Be considerate to your parents. From today say this aloud, "I want to see my parents happy forever. They have cared for me ever since Iwas a little child. They have always showered their selfless love on me.They crossed all mountains and valleys without seeing the storm and heat tomake me a person presentable in the society today".

Say a prayer to God, "I will serve my old parents in the BEST way. I will say all good and kind words to my dear parents, no matter how they behave".

Friends the only motive behind what is being said above is to respect ur parents bcoz they are the one who brought u to this world...I hope understand.

First Blog!

Hey ppl,

Well, This is my very first blog i have ever successfully made though created two blogs an year back but dint do anything with that. One among them was for my Poems (of course its my special hobby which helped me to be identified uniquely in my schoolings, graduations and career also!).

Will have to do much work for the poetry blog, but not now. so all blogfathers (ancestors of me in bloggin ;-)) give your suggestions and comments!

Hope to have a good time with the world of bloggin and to get a good experience & friends! Of course, its more or less like a Diary which we ourselves allow others to read either anonymously or thru invitation!
